The 560 SEC was an AMG-tuned two-door coupe showcasing the best of what the German tuning company was capable of producing back in the 80s.
Under the long hood of the 560 SEC AMG sits a magnificent 6.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 (M117 engine), mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. AMG had completely rebuilt the engine, which now incorporated a modified crankshaft. Furthermore, the engineers managed to squeeze an extra 100 horses from the powerplant which was now pumping out 385 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. What’s more, the engine was now producing twice more torque at half the engine speed.
Prices of the rare Merc AMG widebody were absurdly expensive at around $200,000 in 1989. In comparison, prices of both the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa were lower at around $100,000 to $150,000, back in the late 80s.
